Graduations are Back!

PXL_20210601_234659878.MP.jpg

After a year of without large gatherings of any kind, we were so excited to not only be able to stream a live event, but the commencements of two persevering high-school graduating classes. On June 1st we live-streamed the limited in-person graduation for El Camino High School and on June 3rd we did the same for the graduation ceremony at Fernando R. Ledesma High School. As graduates could only bring a few guests due to Covid-19 restrictions, our services allowed their extended family and friends to be virtually present for the celebration.

Prepping for the 27th Annual Glass Slipper Gala

PXL_20210526_212324283.jpeg

While the 27th Annual Glass Slipper Gala will not take place until next month, ESI Video is hard at work creating the pre-recorded content for the show. This year the Gala is making a large contribution to help fund the new Fetal Care Center of Southern California, a joint mission of UCI Irvine and CHOC.

To bring awareness to the needs of this new project we recorded testimonies from parents who turned to CHOC to save their unborn babies with heart defects and the heroic children that have overcome these diagnoses.

We interviewed all three families at a park close to the CHOC campus, the same park where we conducted similar interviews for the Gala the year prior. This year, however, we experienced a few unforeseen complications. We had expected the background noise from the park to be at the same levels it had been at the year before, not considering that these interviews took place at the height of stay-at-home orders for the COVID-19 pandemic. With those orders now lifted, the playground was bustling with families and young children playing.

PXL_20210526_181720061.jpeg

These potential distractions were not an issue thanks to our expertise shooting in all types of environments, yet we found a valuable lesson in the experience — as we resume normal operations following the pandemic, we must also resume location scouting.

ESI Video Returns to USC

As the state opens up, we are so excited to reunite with some of our favorite clients and partners that had shut down during the pandemic. While we continued to produce videos recapping their virtual events, such as Dean’s Dialogue and the 2021 Research Fair, this month marked our first on-campus video shoot for USC Marshall School of Business in over a year.

The shoot featured Professor of Clinical Marketing and Assistant Vice Dean of Graduate Programs Rex Kovacevich introducing each module of a virtual summer course.

These introductions came from a pre-written script for which we provided a teleprompter. In addition to giving students an overview of each subsequent lesson, the goal of the videos is to give students a taste of the campus and Trojan community. To achieve this, we shot at several iconic locations on campus including Bridge Hall and Alumni Park.

OneOC's Spirit of Volunteerism Awards

To wrap up the month we played an important role in OneOC's Spirit of Volunteerism Awards. In addition to recording the pre-recorded segments of this show that introduce the award winners, we also put together the Honoree Roll Call videos that highlighted all the individual super-volunteers and incredible volunteer groups that were honored this year.

You can find all the videos we edited at OneOC’s Youtube channel.

Our Lady Queen of Angel’s Virtual Gala

PXL_20210425_015756698.MP.jpg

Last newsletter we shared a behind the scenes look at the pre-recorded content we were making for Our Lady Queen of Angel’s virtual gala, Adventure Awaits! On April 24th the Gala took flight from the OLQA library and landed safely in the homes of parents and parishioners. Along with the pre-recorded content, the Gala featured live segments with host Nick Dinieri, the Church’s Priest, and the Co-Chairs of the event.

unnamed (1).jpg

Pictured to the left, is the video village we set up in the school’s library. This is where we shot and streamed the live segments of the show onto GiveSmart along with the pre-recorded features on the different experiences up for auction and our pre-recorded videos such as one highlighting the school’s goal to equip every classroom with the latest SmartBoard technology.

Along with our camera, lighting, and live-streaming equipment, we also provided our talent with a teleprompter. To add an additional interactive component, we built a slideshow featuring pictures of families celebrating at home that were submitted during the show.

The gala passed their donation goal, and you can check out the full show here!

Orange Coast College’s Outstanding Coast Colleagues of the Year & Retirement Recognition Celebration

unnamed.jpg

It’s been the month of virtual events and ceremonies and kicking it all off was Orange Coast College’s Outstanding Coast Colleagues of the Year & Retirement Recognition Celebration. Our work on this project began by producing the pre-recorded segments in which the award winners were recognized and accepted their awards. We then worked with the OCC team to plan out the run of show for the celebration which took place in a zoom webinar and included a live and interactive round of the classic gameshow Match Game.

PXL_20210416_184902928.MP.jpg

In order to accomplish this, we worked with OCC’s tech department to equip one of the hosts of the show with equipment for a more polished look on Zoom. Then on the day of the event we had all members participating in the live portions of the show join into a separate zoom meeting room which we then pushed out into the Zoom Webinar along with accompanying lower thirds graphics and our pre-recorded videos.

2021 Choc Follies

DSC_0248.jpeg

Like many events that have taken place in the last year, the 23rd annual CHOC Follies had to take place online. To adapt this typically live show, The CHOC Foundation called on our team. Using archival footage from past shows, pre-recorded musical numbers, and new interviews with long-time cast members, we created a touching tribute to this beloved philanthropic event and those that have kept it going for over two decades.

20210225_104901.png

The 2021 CHOC Follies “Looking Back and Moving Forward” aired on March 13th through a private link sent out donors at al levels. As of today the event has raised over $740,00 to support the care, services, education, and research that CHOC Children’s provides in our community.

Virtual History Lesson on Presidents Day

The Richard Nixon Library and Museum has not seen a school field trip or visitor for months and in a year of high political tension, the resources and insight a presidential library can provide have been greatly missed. So when President's Day rolled around last month, the Richard Nixon Foundation planned its virtual programing with an eye toward education and a faith that our great union will endure.

Screen Shot 2021-03-17 at 1.46.02 PM.png

The event had two engaging components. First we shot short pre-recorded segments with each of the five presidential reenactors participating in the event. Each president spoke about the most impactful moments in their terms. For example. George Washington recounted the first inauguration, Abraham Lincoln reflected on Reconstruction, and Franklin Roosevelt told of the campaign to eradicate polio.

Following these virtual one-on-one history lessons, the President’s Club came together for the live portion of the event. The five presidents sat down for a livestream Q&A in which the group gave a "masterclass" on the Articles of the Constitution, the Bill of Rights, how a bill becomes a law, presidential elections and so much more.

SEASON'S GREETINGS FROM ESI VIDEO

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays! Our video crew has been hard at work this winter. Take a look at all the fun projects we worked on in November and December!

IMG_7256.jpg

PIH Health Medicare Update Shoot

This month we worked with PIH Health Whittier Hospital to shoot an update for their Medicare program. For this video we recorded segments with several doctors in order to create an overview of the different Medicare plans available.

Our crew transformed a conference room at PIH Health into a green screen studio complete with a teleprompter. This set up ensured that the doctors would be in and out as efficiently as possible.

medicarescreengrab.jpg

We made sure the medical staff involved looked camera ready on our EVA-1 cinema camera by lighting the room using an Aputure C300d and two Dracast LED Panels.

Interviewing the Bishop Emeritus of Las Vegas

3e980043-449b-4c48-91ff-779156e75cec.jpg

The Vatican Office of the Eternal World Television Network, or EWTN, partnered with us to interview the Bishop Emeritus of Las Vegas: Joseph A. Pepe. The bishop's interview was focused on his work with the Vatican Library's Sanctuary of Culture Foundation, an organization dedicated to the restoration and preservation of significant manuscripts, books, prints, and more. The shoot took place at the bishop's house, offering a personal and welcoming atmosphere for the interview. We brought along our EVA-1 camera and light kit which allowed us to capture a professional video with minimal equipment and intrusion into the bishop's home.

Securitas "Heroes" Shoot

IMG_7335.jpg

To commend the incredible work of their security officers Securitas hired ESIVideo to create several videos highlighting talented officers and what they do to keep us safe. This project required traveling to various locations to document the specific role and responsibilities of each officer based on the need of their job site.

IMG_7338.jpg

For each site, we began by interviewing the officer, which we recorded on the Panasonic EVA-1. As many of these were shot outside, we lit our subjects with natural light complimented with a reflector and silk diffuser. Next, we set up our Panasonic GH4 on a Ronin stabilizer to grab b-roll shots of our officers performing their daily duties on-site.

b4227747-3064-4599-9bb1-d9e6c11d4f3d.jpg

We also mounted GoPro cameras in the patrol vehicles of the mobile officers on our shoot. We continued to interview the officers in their cars as they drove through their patrol locations. Our goal is to keep each video brief, while jam-packing them with great quotes and showing what these officers do every day to help keep their sites secure.

The videos can be viewed on SecuritasUSA’s YouTube Channel

EWTN Shoot at the Holy Sepulcher Cemetary

IMG_8737 LOGO.jpg

We partnered with EWTN again in November, this time to record b-roll for a segment of the Whole Person Care series. Using the Panasonic EVA-1 and our DJI Mavic Drone, we captured the peaceful landscape of the Holy Sepulcher Cemetery in Orange, California.

ESI Video Will Remain Open for Business

We are committed to providing our clients with professional video and livestream services, services that become all the more necessary during these shutdowns.

We understand that clear communication has never been more valuable, especially when in comes to virtual communication with employees, clients, students, donors, or whoever your audience may be. Here at ESI Video we're well equipped to get your message out there. Contact us for more details.

Virtual Tours and Live Machine Demos!

Greetings from ESI Video

IMG_8376+%28logo%29.jpg

PIH Health Hospitals are actively seeking Residents to join their Residency Program. Due to COVID-19, they cannot tour the hospitals in person. Because of this, we've been tasked with producing virtual tours to PIH Health Whittier and Downey Hospitals. Our first set up was with PIH Health's Residency Representative as she introduces the program, using our EVA-1 kit alongside our Aputure C300d.

IMG_8385.jpg

Afterwards, we switched between the EVA-1 as well as the Panasonic GH4 on a Ronin Gimbal for cinematic B roll shots. We covered several special facilities as well as Residents discussing and visiting their many hospital patients. We returned at a later date to capture stunning exterior shots using our drone, ensuring equal coverage of both hospital locations.

Marubeni Citizen-Cincom Inc. Products Live Event

IMG_8361 (logo).jpg

Marubeni Citizen-Cincom (MCC) manufactures large scale CNC production equipment for the creation of precision parts. The ESI team was given the task of helping create and run a detailed live show, showing off their products as well as their many functions and features.

The live show intended to switch from live speakers to pre-made videos showing the machinery in action. To accomplish this, we first visited MCC in order to acquire high quality footage of their machines in action. We did this using our standard lighting and video set up. After creating the various short videos, it was time to prepare for the live production.

IMG_8358.jpg
IMG_8436.jpg

Each demonstration required following the speakers as they showed us each side of the machine. This was Neema's first time as a field producer, and he did a great job (you can tell because he has a clipboard). Thankfully, we had an incredibly talented team, which made blocking camera movements and lighting quick and efficient.

Richard Nixon Library Production Team

EPA.jpg

ESI has been tapped by the Richard Nixon Library and Birthplace as the contract video production team for their live streaming events. Above, we helped in the production of the EPA's 50th Anniversary, and below, we manned the in-house studio for a live video interview between Hugh Hewitt (remote call-in) and Donald Trump Jr. (in-studio).

IMG_8412.jpg

CHOC's Message to Hyundai

IMG_8331+%28logo%29.jpg

Hyundai has been a generous supporter of CHOC for many years, and recently donated supplies to help administer COVID-19 tests to the public. To deliver a thank you message, we set up outside in front of the Hyundai COVID tents with Dr. Golden. Because we were shooting outside, we needed various silks and diffusers to light the scene. After preparing a complex set up, we were able to shoot our Doctor's message with professional lighting.

Another Great Month!

Amidst the COVID pandemic, we are thankful to the CHOC family for keeping us busy with various projects over the months. We would also like to extend a hand to anyone in need of video production services, whether it be in-person or virtual. ESI Video can supply professional equipment and manpower for projects of any scale. Click the link below to contact us for more details!

Health Care Interviews and Electric Truck Shoots!

CHOC Children's Virtual Event Shoot

IMG_6710+%28edited%29.jpg

We had the opportunity to visit CHOC Children's Hospital in order to create various videos for their upcoming Unidos Por CHOC virtual event. To film the many doctors featured, we converted a spacious conference room into a green screen studio, equipped with a professional lighting and audio set up.

IMG_6711.jpg

In between green screen inerviews, we moved our set up over to the lobby to shoot a grateful family video. In this video, two parents needed to be interviewed at the same time. Using the colorful lobby of the building, we moved furniture and lighting around to create an appropriate backdrop for a well shot interview.

IMG_6715.jpg

In the post production process, we intend to accompany this footage with B roll footage of CHOC Children's Hospital. With that, we are able to produce yet another successful virtual event to help support a fantastic organization.

IMG_6783%2B%2528logo%2529.jpg

Outside of CHOC Children's Hospital, we had more interviews to shoot that would also be going into the virtual event. We brought our single camera setup to a house in Fullerton, where we interviewed Peter Villegas, Vice President and Head of Latin Affairs at Coca-Cola. We utilized the natural light from the house along with our Aputure C300d as fill, then extended a Fillex light overhead as a back light. We were able to utilize this spacious location in order to achieve some fantastic interviews sets.

IMG_6780.jpg

Transferring the setup to the home office, we captured an interview with Fred Flores, president & CEO of North American Staffing Group. We used a similar lighting setup, as our location gave us a fantastic amount of natural light. After some minor set design readjustments, we were able to shoot a compelling interview for the event. We followed the shoot with various handheld B roll coverage of Fred with his family, providing great footage for the final product.

Lordstown Motors Shoot

IMG_6895+%28logo%29.jpg

Our team was hired by Rocket Science Marketing and Public Relations in order to help shoot a special project for Lordstown motors. They needed a video for their new all-electric truck, the 2021 Endurance, discussing the unique design created by Hydra Design Labs. We brought out our usual interview setup and shot various engineers discussing what makes this new electric vehicle so unique.

IMG_6899.jpg

Later on, we followed them using a two camera setup as they gave us a tour of the exterior and interior of the vehicle. Using this along with various B roll shots, we were able to help create a video that fully showcases the story and features of a fantastic new vehicle.

PIH Health Hospital Shoot

Screen+Shot+2020-09-01+at+09.06.39.jpg

We were invited to PIH Health Hospital in Whittier to cover a special message regarding their new partnership with Blue Shield. This project would consist of an interview with Dr. Roberto Diaz alongside graphics and B roll.

IMG_6768.jpg

To achieve the best look possible, we filmed Dr. Diaz in the lobby of their building alongside a teleprompter to allow for a more efficient shoot. We also used this job as an opportunity to test out a new softbox for our Aputure C300d Mark II. With this, we are able to softly light up our subjects without needing to set up additional diffusers on extra stands.

Gun Range Video Shoot

IMG_8006.jpg

We were contracted by Take One Productions in Irvine to shoot several videos showcasing new tactical products and attachments at Firearms Training Associates. This shoot required us to move around from different setups within a very short time frame.

IMG_6521.jpg

In their training room, we filmed Bill Murphy as he demonstrated the features of various tactical products. We used a single camera setup, taking breaks to grab close up coverage of each product. After, we packed up and transitioned to a handheld setup for the following product demonstrations.

IMG_6526.jpg

In their shoot house training facility, we built a secondary camera on a Ronin gimbal in order to gain more coverage of Bill's movements during the demonstration. After several run-throughs, we attached a GoPro to Bill as he recreated the movements, giving us more options in the post production process.

8a2aace4-317a-481e-b843-1c0cf754fde5.png

Continuing with our handheld setup, we came to the firing range for a final demonstration. This segment included a quick talking head explanation as well as a variety of exciting shots of Bill using the products. With the gimbal, we achieved many dynamic moving shots that mixed in smoothly for a great final product.

CHOC's Fellowship Program

IMG_6799+2.jpg

We visited CHOC Children's again once more to create a series of videos for their Fellowship program. The video would consist of a various doctors speaking to the camera. This location can get difficult to light, as the large windows can often create ugly reflections. We made sure to give ourselves ample time to tweak the lighting positions, giving us a pristine backdrop for the doctors to use.

IMG_6816.jpg

In return, the conference room gives us a beautiful backdrop that includes the colorful CHOC Children's building. With the setup complete, we rotated through a number of doctors on a tight schedule so that everyone could have their allotted time to shoot. We also had the pleasure of bringing in a few newer members, so that we could ask them what their CHOC Children's experience has been like until now.

New Episode of From the Pit

Last month, we asked you to take photos of your 4th of July barbecue for a special episode of From the Pit. Now take a look at all of your fantastic submissions. We'll see you next year!

CHOC Children's Glass Slipper Guild Virtual Gala (and other big CHOC events)!

CHOC Children's Glass Slipper Guild Virtual Gala

Before the CHOC Children's Glass Slipper Guild virtual gala on July 25th, the ESI team continued to produce the final video segments for the live event. There was still a lot of work to be completed, so we kicked it into high gear to ensure that everything was perfect and ready for the big show!

IMG_6472.jpg

First, we had the pleasure of visiting CHOC Children's Hospital to speak to Dr. Yu, Dr. Major and Dr. Jolly. They further detail how important the virtual gala donations are to the development of their Fetal Program.

IMG_6464.jpg

CHOC Children's generously granted us access to their offices and facilities, giving us the chance to shoot a great piece with more of the doctors showcasing the colorful CHOC building as a backdrop. The doctors showed us just how important they felt this event was for the future of the hospital, and were eager to give us their time and attention.

IMG_7865.jpg

We were then taken to Fashion Island in Newport for our next gala shoot. This time, we followed our hosts Carolina and Julia inside "Alice and Olivia", a designer clothing store. There, we created a segment in which the hosts decided on the dresses they planned to wear for the upcoming event. Sara, a Personal Shopper at Fashion Island, helped them pick our their dresses in the form of a mini fashion show.

Our next shoot took us to the beautiful Balboa Bay Resort, where we shot several doctors and families on a balcony overlooking the harbor. The goal of this shoot was to bring in multiple guests to create the bridges between our video segments for the big show.

IMG_6493.jpg
IMG_6497.jpg

In order to capture our guests efficiently, we set up our teleprompter and fed their lines to them. Although the shoot took place in a small hotel suite, ESI was able to bring an entire production into the room for a full day of shooting. There, we ran a tight schedule to ensure that each guest could arrive for their parts, while minimizing the amount of people in the room to keep everyone comfortable and safe.

The Day of the Event

Screen Shot 2020-08-04 at 10.52.17.png

The CHOC Children's Glass Slipper Guild Virtual Gala live stream took place at the beautiful Balboa Bay Resort. After visiting this location for previous video segments, we we’re now experienced with the setup and were able to efficiently recreate our past camera and lighting configuration.

20200725_192403.jpg

Our crew turned a suite into a makeshift live production set, bringing in a Tri Caster as well as a full single camera setup. We we're also able to gather live photos submitted from the audience and seamlessly added them to the show. With constant communication, we we’re able to deliver live updates to the show just in time for our hosts to annouce them to the audience.

20200725_184906.jpg

The event was streamed to Youtube, Facebook and Livestream. After months of preparation, we believe the show ended up being a great success. We are also happy to announce that CHOC Children's was able to raise over $250,000 for their fetal program!

Everyone at ESI Video would like to personally thank CHOC Children's and the Glass Slipper Guild for giving us the opportunity to be a part of a such an exciting event. We have a lot of great experiences throughout the past few months working with them on this project. Thank you for everything that you do for your patients and your community.

Pelican Hill Fundraiser for the CHOC Foundation

IMG_8032 (with Logo PS).jpg

Pelican Hill Golf Club hosts CHOC Children's Classic, an annual golf tournament that invites our community's leading philanthropists and business leasers to enjoy a day of golf. Our team had the task of creating a virtual reception for the event, showcasing highlights from the players while also detailing their mission: raising money to continue giving quality medical care to children in need.

IMG_8029.jpg

We took our interview setup to the green to interview various people, such as Henry DiCarlo from KTLA 5 Morning News. We also grabbed footage of the players during the tournament, as well as capturing beautiful drone shots of the beachside golf course.

Anaheim Ducks CHOC Day 2020

On behalf of CHOC Children's, the Anaheim Ducks hosted Anaheim Ducks CHOC Day on August 2nd. This virtual event aimed to celebrate the Anaheim Ducks as well as CHOC Children's, while also raising funds to continue improving their efforts to help care for children. To accomplish this, autographed CHOCO bears were available for purchase alongside a silent auction. Viewers also had the ability to text in their donations.

IMG_8026.jpg
Screen Shot 2020-08-04 at 14.04.46.png

We put together various video segments for the event. One of our segments highlighted the work that the Anaheim Ducks have done to grow community engagement through various events. Other videos we created showcased grateful families of CHOC patients, as well as the hospital's developments in creating a safer environment during the nationwide pandemic. Everything our team created was then taken and seamlessly put together with their own to create a 50 minute virtual experience for the people at home to tune into!

In order to continue operations, nonprofit organizations have shifted to virtual events in order to reach their audience from home. At ESI video, we are capable of putting together live and pre-recorded events to deliver your message on any platform.

CHOC Children's Glass Slipper Guild Virtual Gala and More!

IMG_6327+copy.jpg

The Glass Slipper Guild hosts an annual gala that raises sizable funds for CHOC Children’s Hospital. Due to COVID-19, the event this year will be in the form of a virtual gala held online for viewers to watch and donate from home. The goal of the event is to reach $2 million, which would allow for incredible developments towards their fetal program. ESI Video was given the opportunity to produce various video segments to be shown throughout the virtual event on July 25th.

IMG_6322.jpg

One of the videos we produced for Glass Slipper Guild took us to the Farmhouse at the beautiful Roger's Gardens. We met with the hosts, Amy and Lauren, to create a video teaching people how to make a specialty cocktail for the event: "The Glass Sipper".

IMG_6335.jpg

Next, we traveled to the home of the Marshall family. There, we were able to speak to them about CHOC and how their newborn child was given special care that ultimately saved her life. This was achieved using our new multi-camera interview setup.

IMG_6374.jpg

The following week, we visited the home of the De Lorea family to discuss their experience with CHOC. Their newborn daughter was born with a congenital diaphragmatic hernia resulting in internal organs shifting towards the chest and damaging the development of her lungs.

Thankfully, with CHOC's help, she is now healthy and thriving. It has become very apparent during our film shoots that CHOC Children’s has changed many familys’ lives for the better. It has been a big honor for ESI Video to be able to join them as we hear stories from their patients. We are not only able to create engaging content, but aid in helping a wonderful foundation gain the funds needed to help children and families in need.

IMG_6367.jpg

Dole Healthy-At-Home Cooking Series

Dole is showcasing healthy meals that can be prepared from home with Melanie Marcus, Dole's Nutrition and Healthy Communications Manager. With her footage, shot entirely from home, we produced a cooking video showing you how to grill BBQ Chicken Stuffed Smoked Pineapple. We understand that in these strange times, people simply cannot meet in person to create a production. However, even if your project needs to be shot remotely, we can use our resources to create a high quality product from anywhere.

Neema's One Year Anniversary at ESI Video!

As of last week our newest team member, Neema Fahimy, has been a part of ESI Video for an entire year! After starting here as editor during the summer, he has slowly become more involved with ESI’s many projects and productions. Here’s what he has to say:

IMG_7627.jpg

"I've had a really great time working on so many different projects throughout the year. From big event highlights to live broadcasts, I've gained a lot of knowledge on video production through my experiences at ESI Video.

IMG_7695.jpg
IMG_7765.jpg

After graduating from college with little experience, I was worried that finding a job would be difficult. Luckily, Jimm and Gerald we’re incredibly welcoming and have helped me become a more competent video editor and videographer.”

Here are few of Neema’s favorite video edits from the past year working with ESI projects!

Recently, Neema edited his very first episode of From the Pit with Jimm Vest! In this episode, we learn how to make Shishito Peppers.

The Unite For Change: Mental Health For Us Forum was held at USC this year. We had the opportunity to run the live broadcast as well as shoot and produce a highlight video.

In April, we created an instructional video about repairing divots for the Alta Vista Country Club newsletter. The video parodies the classic show "The Twilight Zone".

A "4th of July" Announcement from Uncle Jimm

In honor of Independence Day, Jimm Vest wanted to feature you on a special 4th of July episode of From the Pit. Take a look at the special announcement video we made to instruct participants how to enter and win! We are awarding our 2 favorite submissions a free bottle of barbecue seasoning!

New From the Pit Episodes For June

Jimm takes you to Gem Meats and shows you how to cut a chicken into 8 and 9 piece cuts.

Now that you've chosen and chopped your bird, Jimm takes you to the park to show you how to use a standard park barbecue grill.

In this episode, Jimm takes you to The Meat House and shows you how to pick the perfect tri-tip.

After picking out the perfect tri-tip for your barbecue, it's time to get grilling. Jimm shows you how to cook your steak, whether it be store bought or a prime cut.

Big Projects and New Equipment

New Drone Reel

Our clients have been increasing their demand for drone production. Because of this, we’ve updated our drone reel to better showcase our ability to take aerial photo and video. Our team is certified FAA Remote Pilots and carry drone insurance to cover our clients and equipment. Take a look at what we’re capable of!

Securitas USA COVID Response

We had the opportunity to help Securitas USA Pacific Region produce an important video for their current and future clients. This video focuses on their policies and procedures during the COVID-19 pandemic. In this video, management of the Securitas USA Pacific Region detail the hard work that they are devoting to improve safety measures across all aspects of their company. With the help of the people at Securitas USA, they were able to deliver their message professionally, from the comfort of their office.

Next, we captured footage from various locations in Southern California where security officers we’re stationed. We saw firsthand the new safety protocols being implemented on the job site, and how they intend to protect people in these uncertain times. In accordance with CDC guidelines they are implementing social distancing markers, state-of-the-art body temperature scanners, and all security officers are encouraged to wear masks and gloves. This video serves as a great explanation as to how Securitas USA continues to improve.

Securitas Annual Report

Earlier this year, before the nationwide stay-at-home measures were enacted, Securitas Inc. contracted with us to produce photos for their 2019 Annual and Sustainability Report cover and internal photos. The Annual Report is sent out to shareholders worldwide, sharing the growth and future outlook of the company. We were on location at the Port of Los Angeles capturing the size and scale of the port with a drone as well as having a still photographer on the ground snapping photos of security officers patrolling the port. Securitas Inc. collaborated with the US Coast Guard and General Manager of the Port of Los Angeles to provide us access and supervision as we captured the action of Securitas’ officers. CHOC Children's "Glass Slipper Guild" Virtual Gala Interview

ESI Video is collaborating with Children's Hospital of Orange County and one of its guilds, the Glass Slipper Guild, to produce a virtual gala which helps raise funds for the hospital.  To support the virtual gala, we are in production with CHOC Children's representatives and Glass Slipper Members to make a video highlighting a truly incredible story. We interviewed two mothers that became close friends after their daughters both underwent significant heart surgery. After a successful treatment at CHOC Children's, the children are now healthy and thriving. After the interview, we captured footage of the kids playing in the park before wrapping up an eventful shoot.

For this shoot, the city of Tustin was kind enough to expedite a filming permit to let us shoot on location at Cedar Grove Park. Using our new camera the Panasonic EVA-1 we utilized the 4:2:2 10-bit V-log recording format to capture incredible colors and clarity. The Panasonic EVA-1’s 14 stops of dynamic range gave us flexibility in post-production to color grade the footage to fit our needs and style. Not only that, but our team is now able to shoot multi-camera interviews. As the quality of our production equipment grows, so does the quality and impact of our projects. We are looking forward to shooting more large productions with this powerful camera.

Staying Busy During Stay-at-Home Orders

At ESI Video, we are doing everything we can to continue helping our clients produce fantastic videos. Even during the nationwide self-quarantine, we understand that people have messages they need delivered to the public and have been working to do so safely and smoothly. Take a look at how we do that, as well as some recent examples.

We recognize that businesses are hesitant to meet in person to produce videos for them. Luckily, there are still ways to get the job done professionally without direct contact. If you have access to preexisting footage of your company or business, we can edit them together to deliver your message. You can also use the camera on your phone, which can be mixed in with graphics and music. Although there is nothing that can replace a professional setup with proper video, lighting and audio, we can still work with what we have to produce something fresh and impactful.

ESI Video worked with PIH Health Whittier Hospital during the start of the nationwide self-quarantine in order to produce a series of important videos for their social sites. Because of the widespread panic, people are doing their best to steer clear of hospitals and reduce the chances of contracting the virus. For those with preexisting conditions, however, it is recommended by PIH doctors and specialists that they do not avoid getting treatment if it is necessary.

PIH Health doctors explain that the hospitals and medical offices have adapted their safety and entrance procedures to encourage patients to seek treatment. Upon entrance to the facility, hand sanitizer and masks are handed out to patients before being given a body temperature check. This way, they can be extra sure that patients entering the hospital are at a lower risk of spreading or contracting the virus. Waiting rooms have enforced the social distancing rule by separating seats 6 feet apart. Now is the best time to see a doctor, as their medical offices have reduced visitations and are safer then ever.

For those who prefer to stay home, PIH Health physicians offer video and teleconferencing appointments for their patients. Although meeting in person is ideal, there are still ways to receive professional care.

We also produced a video demonstrating a doctor’s guide to washing your hands. In order to avoid contracting the virus, a PIH Health Doctor shows us the most effective way to scrub and wash your hands to keep them as sanitized as possible.

We are happy to focus our attention on conveying important messages and information during this unique time. Hopefully these messages will reach people and inform them that hospitals and clinics are safe to seek treatment.

OneOC is a nonprofit organization that aims to help nonprofits and companies better their community. Every year, OneOC hosts the Annual Spirit of Volunteerism Awards in order to celebrate the major involvement of community volunteers, groups and corporations. Sadly, due to COVID-19, the award show could not be held at the Disneyland Hotel, as it typically does. Because of this, ESI Video had the opportunity of helping assemble the very first virtual Spirit of Volunteerism Awards show.

We met with the co-chairs of the Spirit of Volunteerism Awards who would have hosted and introduced the honorees to shoot their individual segments. We practiced social distancing guidelines to ensure their safety during the video segment. We edited and produced graphics, bringing everyone together for a fully virtual experience. Even though OneOC can’t have an in-person awards show, this allowed people to still come together to honor those who go the extra mile to improve lives in their community.

Looking Towards the Future

As things are gradually reopening, companies are producing videos to communicate how they’ll ensure the safety of their employees and customers. ESI Video can aid in creating an impactful message that details your company’s new policies and procedures.

Live Streaming Capabilities (Regarding COVID-19)

ESI Video has stepped up it’s game when it comes to producing live streams. Over the last year, we have worked with countless clients to perform webcasts to sites like Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Zoom, Youtube and much more. We can accommodate any budget, whether it be a single camera event or a multiple-camera production on a private sound stage. Graphics, music, and any other forms of media can be integrated into the show as well, giving us the freedom to create whatever your business demands.

With the rising panic over COVID-19, also known as the “Coronavirus”, many events are being shut down to avoid large populated areas. Because of this, live web streaming your lecture or event might be the best and safest option. This is a medium that ESI shines in. Not convinced yet? The USC Marshall School of Business hosted it’s annual “Research Fair” at the USC Hotel. The Research Fair is an event that gives the stage to Marshall Faculty to show off their most recent findings and achievements. ESI was tasked with live streaming the event as well as capturing captivating B-roll to make use of in edited highlight videos. This particular event was not complicated, requiring a single camera in the back of the room along with slideshow graphics. Click here to watch the full live stream!

ESI Video can meet the needs of any show, big or small. If your company has any need for a live production, especially during the COVID-19 panic, we can bring the show to you!

Traveling Live Webcasts

Live webcasts don’t have to be complicated and over budget. ESI Video can scale any live webcast to fit your budget and your event. The USC Alumni Association and the USC Dornsife College of Letters, Arts and Sciences invited ESI Video to the Stanford Park Hotel in Menlo Park where they hosted a panel discussion titled, “Does Diversity Matter? The Economic Case for Diversity in Tech.” An evening featuring USC alumni experts who are transforming the tech industry by prioritizing diversity and inclusion initiatives, building a STEM pipeline and enhancing hiring programs. The evening will included dinner and a networking reception.

The school requested a professional production team handle the webcast live on facebook to share with their alumni and students. Because the hotel was a small venue facebook provided a convenient way to share this important topic with the world.

ESI Video was tasked to keep the budget low and operation simple, so the setup only required a single camera package, DVX200 with Libec zoom control and Manfrotto tripod, a laptop and AJA U-TAP SDI USB capture device to make it all happen. This convenient, portable, one person operation was a perfect combination to provide a professional presentation. To watch the panel discussion check out the video below.

Custom Building Products Facebook Live

On June 28th ESI Video prepared and produced a Facebook LIVE Stream for Custom Building Products of Santa Fe Springs. Custom Building Products is an industry leader in flooring preparation products and tile and stone installation systems for both commercial and residential projects. Custom Building Products has also established itself as an online resource for contractors and homeowners alike, providing guidance especially through their popular tutorial videos from their Custom Technical University.

With the help of ESI, Custom Building Products took these videos to the next level by producing a completely live 20 minute show featuring Fusion Pro Single Component Grout. To tackle the technical challenge of shooting a Facebook LIVE stream, ESI arrived to the site several hours before Custom Building were set to go live to begin the necessary set up.

The ESI crew provided camera ready lighting for the two room shoot, expertly placing lights to prevent glare from bouncing off the building materials. The grip team also had the tools to match the mixed sunlight and florescent lighting found in the two sets.

To capture this two set show ESI utilized a moveable two camera set up which allowed for a close up and wide shot at both locations. To ensure crisp audio, the two hosts and three contractors with speaking roles were given lavalier microphones.
